1986 Fender model ST62-55 Stratocaster, a wonderful ’62 reissue made in Japan. Rebel yellow was a catalog finish on this model for a few short years in the 80s. With a few decades of honest play wear on the clock, this is striking a perfect balance of classy and offensive. Here we have an ‘E serial’ example: this was made at the excellent Fujigen Gakki factory, Fender’s first ever instruments made outside USA.
The neck is superb: a dark streaky slab rosewood paired with a gorgeous tightly grained piece of maple, carved to a comfy slim vintage C. It’s great in the hands, smooth and comfy with plenty of resonance. The Vintage style pickups are thick and full with heaps of chime.
